Udeco was founded in 1998 as a subsea engineering company and has developed its own equipment for sale and rental since 2000. We are based at Mekjarvik in Randaberg, near Stavanger, with offices, a workshop with a 10 tonne crane and outdoor storage, 200 metres from the Mekjarvik deep-water quay.
Our customers are mainly subsea installation contractors and the companies that supply umbilicals and subsea equipment. What they rent from us is usually equipment a vessel does not carry as standard: long and heavy baskets up to 20 ft, flying lead installation baskets set up for the leads on a particular job, and mud mats and seabed support mattresses.
Most of what we rent out is standard equipment that goes straight from the fleet: TS Umat mattresses, Ubag bags and our Ubas baskets. For jobs that need more, we configure the equipment in our own workshop. Flying lead baskets get compartments and parking stands for the leads on that job, and baskets for recovery work can be fitted with lock down bars, weights or extra ROV handling points. Configured flying lead baskets can also be packed and pull-out tested before they leave us.
Udeco equipment has been used on projects on the Norwegian and UK continental shelves and in Mozambique, the Philippines, Brazil, the Middle East, Australia and Guyana. Recent jobs include flying lead installation baskets for the Malampaya field offshore the Philippines, a deploy and lay-away basket for the Rosebank fibre connection west of Shetland, seabed support mattresses for Mozambique LNG, and a power cable crossing over an existing spool at Halten East.
